Nine-hundred and forty-four foot-pounds. That’s the gut-punching amount of torque produced by the 875bhp Porsche 918 Spyder, over half of which is on-tap and available from just 800rpm. That’s right: 800rpm.

Don’t let the soft soap-bar styling fool you into thinking the 918 Spyder is something of a pussycat. Porsche’s hybrid hypercar, the Stuttgart marque’s answer to the LaFerrari and the McLaren P1, tells a story of almighty power and freakish versatility. Beneath the surface this was a drastically different beast to its lesser production Porsche counterparts.

In fact, much of its mechanical blueprint – including the high-revving 600bhp V8 engine and the trick aluminium double-wishbone suspension – is derived from the Le Mans-winning RS Spyder prototype racer. Perhaps it’s of little surprise, then, that the 918 Spyder became the first production car to break the seven-minute barrier at the notoriously challenging Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit. The specific time was six minutes and 57 seconds, a staggering 14 seconds clear of the previous record.

It’s fair to say the first – and only – owner of the stunning Porsche 918 Spyder we’re presenting had great foresight when it came to the specification of his car.

Crucially, serial number 832 is a ‘Weissach’ package car, meaning it’s fitted with the extensive suite of track-oriented extras including the lightweight magnesium alloy wheels, a more aggressive aerodynamic body package, titanium chassis bolts and a plethora of exposed carbon-fibre.

In addition to the raft of optional extras specified on this 918 Spyder, bespoke options included the satin-black wheels, black badging and embroidery rather than the standard Acid Green, and standard interior door pulls rather than the fabric pull loops that are part of the Weissach package.

Car number 832 was collected from the factory by its first owner on 8 June 2015 and underwent its first service later that year at the Porsche Centre Amsterdam. The car was acquired by its second and most recent owner in early 2016, joining a remarkable German collection of Porsches spanning the marque’s entire history. Since then, it’s covered a mere 16,750km and been diligently maintained by the Porsche Centre Stuttgart. Having only covered such low mileage, this 918 Spyder, unsurprisingly, presented in near-flawless condition, both inside and out.

Satisfyingly, the car retains virtually all of the original factory paraphernalia with which it was originally delivered. This includes the factory document pouch containing the service book, owner’s manuals and hand-signed delivery certificate, the car cover, the charging cable, the optional Schroth six-point harnesses and the spare key.
