Special-edition V12 Ferrari commemorating Pininfarina's 70th anniversary

Chassis no. ZFFZR52B000123684

Unveiled at the Paris Show in 2000, the 550 Barchetta Pininfarina was so named to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Ferrari’s coachbuilder and stylist. A strictly limited edition of just 448 numbered cars was built, with the last leaving the factory in December 2001. Since the Daytona in the 1970’s, Ferrari had not built a two-seat, open, front-engined V12 car, the 550 Barchetta Pininfarina was Ferraris return to its roots.

The Barchetta had many unique features, most noticeably its windscreen was much more aggressively raked, and shorter. The wheels were two-piece alloy, the boot was restyled, actually resulting in an increased capacity compared to the coupe, and the fuel filler flap was aluminium. Unlike the coupe, the Barchetta was fitted with racing seats as standard, and un-like the Daytona of past, it was fitted with a soft-top substantial enough only for the lowest of speeds. Almost immediately these 448 cars became the most sought-after of all Ferrari 550’s, ticking all the essential collector boxes, soft top, front-engined V12, two seats, and most importantly, manual.

This Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina:

We are pleased to offer you one of these very special 550 Barchetta Pininfarinas, chassis 123684. It is car number 12 of only 448 and was completed by the Ferrari factory on the 29th May 2001. Dr Stefan Jentzsch ordered this car through Official Ferrari dealer Auto-Konig in Schatzbogen, Munich, to be finished in Grigio Titanio over a Nero leather interior, as it is presented today. The car was delivered to Dr Jentzsch on the 27th June 2001, less than a month after completing production, and was registered on German license plates ‘M-SJ550’. This Ferrari returned to Auto-Konig for its first service on the 8th October 2002, at which point it was displaying only 703 kilometres, then in January 2006 it returned for another service, this time displaying only 1,918 kilometres.

On the 29th March 2006, this car was registered in Italy to Mr Roberto Tonali, a resident in Milano, on license plate ‘CY 603WG’. The car was most recently serviced on 31st May 2016 by Official Ferrari Service centre, Autofficina Bonini Carlo, near Reggio Emilia, where it also had its cam belts changed, and then later in the year received a new set of tyres, the originals also being supplied with the car.

Since taking ownership in May 2017, we have chosen to enter this car in the Ferrari Classiche Certification process. The car will also be fully serviced at Official Ferrari dealer, Rossocorsa S.r.l. in Milan prior to delivery to its new owner, ensuring complete peace of mind motoring.

This is most certainly one of the finest Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarinas in existence, with less than 3,500 kms from new and still retaining its books, tools, car cover, caps and original racing helmets, this is a modern manual masterpiece truly worthy of the finest Ferrari collections in the world.
