In the first six years of the World Rally Championship’s Group A regulations, the Lancia Delta won every single Manufacturers’ title. Just think about the gravity of that achievement for a moment.

In its multitude of successive evolutions and, of course, the legendary Lancia Martini Racing Team colours, the Delta racked up 46 victories on rallying’s world stage, in the hands of such motorsport legends as Juha Kankkunen, Miki Biasion and Markku Alén.

In vanquishing the competition to dominate the World Rally Championship in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the road-going Lancia Delta HF – particularly in its enhanced Evoluzione 1 and 2 guises – was quick to cement its ‘future-classic’ status. But in more recent times, the box-arched homologation special has garnered a cult following among the Instagram generation thanks to Eugenio Amos’ wild restomod version, the Futurista.

Among the last of the myriad special-edition Delta HF Integrales produced by Lancia was the ‘Dealers Collection’, which, as its name suggests, was available exclusively to official concessionaires of the Torinese marque. Only 180 individually-numbered examples were built towards the very end of Integrale production.

Built to the ultimate 210bhp Evoluzione 2 specification, the ‘Dealers Collection’ boasted a number of special features including beguiling triple-layer Pearl Red paintwork, beige leather upholstery, an aluminium dial surround, a push-to-start button, an rally-inspired OMP passenger footrest and an individually numbered plaque mounted between the front seats.

The ‘Dealers Collection’ we are thrilled to be offering is number 78 of the 180 produced by Lancia. First registered in 1995, the car was acquired by its first UK-based owner in 1999, who’d cherish it for 20 years. Crucially, during these two decades, this Delta HF Integrale was maintained by a reputable marque specialist and preserved in excellent and highly original condition. Its second and current UK-based owner assumed custody of this Delta in 2019, since when it has been used infrequently, covering fewer than 1,000 kilometres.

We’ve encountered 10s of Delta HF Integrales over the years and have no issue telling you that this Evoluzione 2 ‘Dealers Collection’ is among the most pleasant. Both externally and from the driver’s seat, you can feel that number 78 has been used and enjoyed, but perhaps more importantly, that it’s been properly maintained. So taken with the car was our leader Max Girardo, a man who it’s fair to say knows a thing or two about these Lancias, that he was seriously tempted to add it to the Girardo & Co. stable.

The first or the last has always been music to any collector’s ears and the ‘Dealers Collection’ is certainly a special edition worthy of the cult-classic Italian homologation hatchback’s legacy. Number 78, specifically, is among the most pleasant Delta HF Integrales we’ve ever encountered here at Girardo & Co. – an honest, tidy and thoroughly looked-after example of this swansong special edition.
