Lancia Martini Racing

Lancia are the most successful team in World Rally history, claiming no less than ten Championship titles! Success begun with the Fulvia in 1972, followed by further championships for the Stratos in 1974, 1975 and 1976. The Group B era saw the demise of two-wheel drive cars with the 037 ‘Rally’ being the final rear-wheel drive car to win the World Rally Championship in 1983. However, Group B was reaching speeds never before seen which led to the FIA cancelling the championship at the end of the 1986 season.

For the 1987 season, the FIA introduced the Group A regulations for World Rallying, with Lancia immediately developing their four-door family hatchback into the most successful world rally car in history. The Lancia Delta HF 4WD Group A was introduced for the 1987 season, taking victory at its debut event, Rallye Monte Carlo. Lancia dominated the season, winning both the Drivers and Contructors championship.

As the competition evolved, so did Lancia, with the introduction of the Delta 8V in 1989, Delta 16V in 1990 and finally the Delta HF Integrale Evo 1 in 1992. The Lancia Delta won 46 World Championship events, with six consecutive World Manufacturer’s Championships from 1987-1992, a record which remains undefeated to this day!

The Lancia Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione 1 ‘Martini 6’

To celebrate this unparalleled competition success, Lancia created this, the Delta HF Integrale Evoluzione 1 ‘Martini 6’. Only 310 were produced, each fitted with an individual numbered plaque mounted just below the gear lever. Fitted with white Speedline ‘Monte Carlo’ aluminium wheels and finished in white with iconic Martini red and blue stripes, the ‘Martini 6’ was also fitted with ‘World Rally Champion’ decals, and a ‘6 X World Rally Champion’ badge.

Whilst the exterior is impressive, perhaps the interior is the most iconic with its turquoise Alcantara and decorative red stitching cloaking the Recaro high-back seats and door panels. Adding to the sporty feel of the ‘Martini 6’ is a new steering wheel, quickshift gear lever and carbon fibre fascia, with Lancia also fitting Teflon bushes to the gear linkage.

This car, chassis no. 580691, is accompanied by its Lancia Certificato Di Origine, confirming it to be one of the original 310 ‘Martini 6‘ special editions. The unique plaque fitted below the gear lever on this car confirms it to be number 130.

This car was delivered new to Lebanon before migrating to Jordan, from where Girardo & Co. sourced the car in 2017, having only had two owners from new. We immediately returned the car to its home country, Italy, for a complete ‘nut and bolt’ restoration by double World Rally Champion Miki Biasion’s Italia Motor Sport. Of his 17 World Rally Victories, Miki Biasion claimed 15 of them, as well as both his 1988 and 1989 World Drivers Championships aboard Lancia Deltas.

The photo-documented restoration started in early 2018, with the car being stripped to a bare shell with ever component being stripped and restored. The engine and gearbox were removed and completely stripped and rebuilt along with the suspension and all other mechanical components. Pictures from each stage show the car being stripped and rebuilt.

Today the car presents in stunning condition, it really does look as good as the day it left Lancia.
