An “exaggeration of flamboyance”. That’s how Pininfarina lauded the Ferrari Testarossa. The illustrious Italian design house had a point – few cars epitomise 1980s excess like the Testa. Everyone from overt covert police officers (read Sonny Crockett) and sockless yuppies to Wolves of Wall Street and teenage Sega fanboys championed the Ferrari. It captured the public imagination and turned its maker into a household name. And isn’t that what any great supercar should do?
In addressing the 512BB’s shortcomings, Ferrari had produced a ‘world’ car for the first time. As extravagant and unconventional as it appears from the outside, the Testarossa is actually more civilised Grand Tourer than cold-blooded supercar – though that’s not to say we’d take any foolish liberties with it. So, while this flat-12 has the head-turning image to make you feel like a schoolchild again, it’s also the perfect partner to bond with on a cross-continental weekend away. Truly, the best of both worlds.
The right-hand-drive Testarossa offered, chassis number 89985, was delivered new on 2 August 1991 to Glenvarigill, the Official Ferrari Dealer in Edinburgh, Scotland. Finished in the classic colour combination of Rosso Corsa over Crema leather upholstery, the car was fitted with contrasting burgundy carpets – a tasteful touch in what is otherwise a loud and wonderfully proud configuration. The first of its two private owners kept chassis number 89985 from 1992 until February of 1996, covering 5,500 miles and servicing it thrice with the supplying Ferrari dealer.
As the accompanying bumper history file chronicles, this Testarossa has been kept and cherished by its second owner ever since then. Only a further 5,570 miles have been added to the odometer (that’s an average of fewer than 185 miles per year), while servicing has been carried out by the supplying dealer and marque specialists. Most recently, in March of 2026, chassis number 89985 was serviced by the renowned Ferrari specialist Bob Houghton Ltd. in the Cotswolds.
This Ferrari’s overall condition is excellent and entirely commensurate with its mileage and its maintenance. Furthermore, we’ve had the car comprehensively detailed in-house. Satisfyingly, the Testarossa retains its original Schedoni leather pouch and complete set of books (including the warranty card), its spare key, factory car cover, spare wheel and tool set. If you’re after an especially tidy low-mileage Testarossa, you’ll need look no further than this.
