Chassis no. 09111

Nothing more clearly shows the evolution of Ferrari into the premier constructor of grand touring automobiles than the 1966 Geneva Auto Show debut of the 330 GTC. It offered a 4.0-litre engine in a chassis closely patterned after the 275 GTB with coachwork by Pininfarina, combining a gorgeous nose reminiscent of the 400 Superamerica with a prominent beltline from the doors back, culminating in a tail that paid homage to the 275 GTS. The thin-pillared, airy greenhouse owes little to any prior Ferrari but crisply reflects Pininfarina’s mastery of form and unifies this potentially disparate collection of design elements into a clean and refreshing form of its own.

In keeping with its intended mission as a grand touring car, the 330 GTC’s interior accommodations are both commodious and luxurious, with ample luggage room both in the trunk and behind the seats. Some 600 330 GTCs were built in the years before it was succeeded by the 365 GTC.

Records indicate that chassis 09111 was completed on 19th November, 1966 and finished new in Grigio Fumo with a beige interior. Built new to European specification, it was sold new through official Ferrari dealer Vecar Srl in Rome to first owner Antonello Scardia of Lecce in southern Italy. Correspondence in the car’s file indicates it changed ownership once more in July 1967, passing to second owner Primo Torrolino of Alessandria. During his ownership, Mr. Torrolino had the car maintained at the Ferrari factory itself, by “Assistenza Clienti” in Modena.

By the 1970s, 09111 had made its way to the United States and, according to information provided by marque expert Marcel Massini, was painted red. The car remained in this same colour scheme with a cream leather interior and by the early 1990s had returned to Europe where it was registered in Germany.

According to the correspondence on file, a Mr. Lawrence F. Zinkin became the new owner in 2003. Mr. Zinkin would treat this beautiful 330 GTC as his pride and joy, maintaining it to a very high level and participating in several Ferrari events, including the Ferrari Club of America “Concorso Italiana of Marina” in California, where it won a silver award. Mr. Zinkin commissioned a full engine rebuild by marque specialists in California in 2005.

Having been purchased by its current owner in 2011, the car was sent for a complete restoration, with many images of the works included in the cars history file. The interior was retrimmed by specialists Luppi using Schedoni leather. At the same time, every mechanical component was removed, stripped, and rebuilt with exceptional results.

With all EU taxes paid, this is a fantastic opportunity to acquire one of the great touring Ferraris.
