This Lancia B24 Spider America

This magnificent Aurelia B24 Spider America is chassis number 1044, which left the Lancia factory painted Grigio on 28 May 1955. It was sold in July of the same year to Tubino e C., a café in Genoa, for the princely sum of 2.85m lire. The car’s original Genoa registration number was GE8141.

This Lancia passed through the hands of several further Italian owners, until 1967, when chassis 1044 was sold to the Regazzoni family (nope, not that one). Regazzoni was the name behind Officine Padane, one of Italy’s most famous builders of buses. As such a prominent figurehead of Italian industry, Regazzoni was an acquaintance of Enzo Ferrari. Allegedly, Il Commendatore gave Regazzoni some Ferrari red paint, which was promptly sprayed onto the gorgeous Pinin Farina-styled open bodywork of this Lancia.

The Regazzoni family clearly cherished this B24 Spider America – they retained the car until 2017, when it was bought by a collector in Como. Said collector took the decision to commission a comprehensive restoration, entrusting the mechanical work to the renowned Como-based Lancia specialist Clerici. The restoration was fastidious, and carried out with the utmost respect for the car’s authenticity and originality.

Resplendent in its original and beguiling shade of light grey, chassis 1044 today is a fantastic example of the gorgeous B24 Spider America – undoubtedly one of the most desirable road-going Lancias of them all.
